This vintage Hills Bros Coffee tin is from the days when I used to stop at antique stores and thrift stores on a regular basis looking for bits and pieces to build with. I could definitely count on one hand the number of times I've been in one of those stores since the first pandemic lockdown. On the bright side, it's helped me start working through the tremendous of amount of stuff I've already dragged home.
At one point your coffee would actually come in a container this nice, rather than some ugly plastic crap. Such a good looking piece, these days I build lamps out of them. The shade is a colander which I really like for 2 reasons. When it's the only light in a dark room, it casts rad shadows. Also... it kind of reminds me of a pork pie hat. It turns on and off with a push-through switch on the socket. The cord is about 6 feet long, so you shouldn't have any trouble reaching an outlet.
