Brass Cricket Box Lamp
I stopped at a thrift store looking for colanders, coffee pots, and a silver platter… but didn’t find much. I did find this little brass container and had to bring it home. I was so excited about this piece that I built this lamp on Thanksgiving Day before our anti-Thanksgiving meal. Inside the brass box is a candelabra socket so you can put a colored light inside. That is my favorite part. I love the look of light coming from “inside” of a lamp. It currently has a pink “Christmas” light because I couldn’t find a red one. That bulb is turned on/off with the rotary switch on the side of the box. The socket on top is an antique brass shell that a friend salvaged from an old building and gave to me. I’ve tossed the antique inner components and replaced them with modern electronics. I currently have a vintage style mini brass padlock on order to keep little hands from digging around inside.
